I am a former part-time software engineering consultant using C++ for a US industry in PA (2019). Also, in industry, I have 6 years of experience as a programmer/software engineer. I have 12 years of programming experience in my scientific research at Wash U School of Medicine in St. Louis. Through my dissertation and postdoc, I have 5 years of FORTRAN programming experience. At Wash U School of Medicine, I have 8 years of part-time UNIX system administrator experience.

Software Consulting

Online work, especially requiring mathematics and/or science, is very welcome. Other projects requiring statistical work are also very interesting. Projects requiring algorithm development are very fun to work on. In addition, projects requiring new data structures and/or classes are also interesting.

Working with languages other than those listed here is an option, and time spent on learning a new language is not considered chargeable time. It would not take long to learn a new language.

It is not possible to give accurate predictions of the cost of any project. On rare occassions, a good guess will be close to the truth. The cost of the project is determined by the time spent, and any rough estimates have no influence on the final price. No fixed-price gaurantees will be made. No price ranges will be given and then used in determining the actual final cost of the project. Solely the time spent will determine that, and the accuracy of that time will be perfect.

Payment is required on a weekly basis, according to the number of hours worked. More frequent payments are acceptable, but less frequent payments are not acceptable. An informal written contract is also desirable and required. Both parties must sign the contract.

Regular and most likely daily communication will be provided during the project. It is essential and efficient to maintain open and regular communication.
